Advantage Trailer Announces Retirement of Founders Dan & Marchon Webb
November 29, 2022
CAROL STREAM, IL – Nov. 23, 2022 – Advantage Trailer announced today that founders Dan and Marchon Webb are retiring after 33 years with the company.
The Webbs began the company as Advantage Auto Leasing in 1989. It started as a 1,200-square foot U-Save Auto Rental franchise in Villa Park. In 1991, the company moved into a vacant car dealership down the street and expanded renting U-Haul trucks and trailers. A year later, they added trailer hitch installations and auto repairs.
Advantage sold its first trailer in 1994 and began phasing out auto rentals and repairs with a focus on becoming a full-fledged trailer dealer and repair shop.
By the late 1990s, under the Webbs’ leadership, Advantage started to specialize in custom built trailers. In 2007, the company moved to its current location in Carol Stream. Over the past 15 years, Advantage has doubled in size and grown to become one of the industry’s premier dealerships.
“We credit the success of the company to our staff,” said Dan Webb. “The leadership from Mark (Behrendt) developing the service side and Jim (Groveau) expanding the sales division have been instrumental in our growth.”
Ownership of Advantage Trailer has transitioned to Dan and Marchon’s daughters, Jodi (Webb) Behrendt and Sarah (Webb) Groveau. Behrendt has been with the company since Day 1, most recently overseeing business operations and human resources. Groveau has spent 20 years at Advantage, with time off to raise her family. She has most recently led vehicle sales administration.
“Dan has worked long and hard his whole life to make it to this milestone of retirement,” Jodi Behrendt said. “He has been honest and humble, putting employees before himself and always treating them like family. We have worked together for over 33 years and now part of our team will be missing. At the same time, I am very excited that my sister, Sarah, and I will be able to continue Advantage’s legacy. We are excited to continue building partnerships with our manufacturers and vendors and always servicing our client’s needs the best we can. We have the best team we have had at Advantage and are excited to lead into the future.”
“Dan and Marchon have put a lot of their time and energy into growing Advantage Trailer,” Sarah Groveau said. “They always put their customers first and made sure that every job was done right at a fair price. Their desire was to do what was right and to build relationships with their employees, suppliers, and customers. They have also partnered with some great manufacturers and suppliers to sell quality supplies and trailers.
“Although we will miss having Dan at the office, we are excited to see him enjoy some much needed rest! I am looking forward to continuing the business with my sister Jodi and having my husband, Jim, and brother-in-law, Mark, to run Advantage Trailer with us. I look forward to continuing to grow the business while looking for new avenues to take with great quality products and trailers that will fulfill our customers’ wants and needs!”
