Each year during the Christmas season, Advantage Trailer conducts its own give back initiative to support the local community. This year, we conducted a food drive during the month of February and donated approximately 400 pounds of food to the Interfaith Food Pantry of Carol Stream.
“We’ve definitely seen an increase in food insecurity since the start of the pandemic [last] March across all of our 13 counties we serve, including DuPage,” said Northern Illinois Food Bank development officer, Molly Speckman. “Food drives are most popular around Thanksgiving and Christmas, so you’ll probably see less food drives in the community after that season has passed.”
At the beginning of February, Advantage opened a 5’x8’ cargo trailer in the showroom for employees and customers to place canned and other non-perishable foods in. We also got monetary donations from our partners at Reverie and a dollar-to-dollar match from owner Dan Webb.
The money raised will be able to provide over $1,100 worth of groceries by the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
“The food your teammates and customers donated will help us serve people in need from Carol Stream and other nearby communities," said Ed Rylko, Interfaith treasurer and director. "The Interfaith Food Pantry serves about 200 families each month, and your donation provides for about 20 of those. We're able to supplement what you gave with fresh milk, eggs, produce, and frozen meats. We truly appreciate the generosity of everyone at Advantage Trailer!"
