Advantage Trailer 2024 Trailer Sales Year in Review

As we get back into the swing of things in the new year, we look back on a very successful year with our top trailers sold, locations, and manufacturers of 2024.

The Go-To Source for Trailers in Chicagoland

As a leading trailer dealer in Chicagoland, we aim to serve our local community first. Yet again, nearly two-thirds of our annual trailer sales were right here in our home state of Illinois. Although the percentage dropped from last year’s 66%, we sold 5 more trailers locally than we did in 2023.

Advantage Trailer is Chicago’s go-to for custom trailers, offering a diverse range of solutions for marketing agencies and small businesses. From experiential marketing trailers and mobile retail units to vending and food trailers, we build to your specific needs.

Beyond sales, our full-service repair shop and extensive parts inventory make us a true one-stop trailer shop. When you choose Advantage Trailer, you’re not just buying a trailer; you’re gaining a reliable partner committed to keeping your trailer in peak condition through regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

A Small Family Business with Nationwide Reach

For the 6th-straight year, we sold trailers to at least half of the states in the United States, and for the 3rd-straight year, we sold to at least 30 of them! In 2024, we sold to 30 different states, plus Washington, DC and the territory of Guam.

While our neighbors that share our border — Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, and Kentucky — naturally accounted for just over 13% of our trailer sales, we once again found great success with customers in California, Florida, and Texas (12% of trailers sold).

Why?

Because of our custom trailer offerings, such as stage trailers, vending trailers, mobile grocery trailers, office trailers, and command trailers.

The trailers we sold stretched from Perry, Maine to Kauai, Hawaii — a span of 5,264 miles East to West, and from Phelps, Wisconsin to Miami, Florida – a span of 1,728 miles North to South!

A few of our favorite trailers sold in 2024:

Cargo Trailers Top the List

Cargo Trailers accounted for 41% of our trailer sales.

As usual, cargo trailers led the way, accounting for 41% of our trailers sold. However, the percentage cargo trailers sold has declined for the 4th straight year, from 50% in 2021 to 43% in 2022 to 41.2% in 2023 to 40.8% last year.

The most popular size of cargo trailer sold was once again the 6’x12′, which accounted for 31% of the cargo trailers we sold. 7’x14′ cargo trailers (18%) and 7’x16′ cargo trailers (12%) were next, followed by 5’x8′ and 6’10’ (both 8%).

Office and command trailers were our second-most frequently sold trailer in 2024, totaling 12% of our total trailers sold — a 5% increase from 2023. Car haulers were next at 7.5%, followed by vending trailers (7%), utility trailers (7%), equipment trailers (6%), and stage trailers (5.7%).

Our Top Manufacturers in 2024

2024 Trailer Sales top brands

While we sold 19 different brands in 2024, including used trailers, six manufacturers led the way with double-digit trailer sales. Discovery, ATC, Sure-Trac, Cross, Stealth, and Xtreme Custom made up 91% of our total trailer sales in 2024.

Discovery Trailers accounted for 35% of our total trailers sold — a 7% increase from 2023. Even more, Discovery made up 62% of our cargo trailers sold, 36% of car haulers sold, and 32% of our stage trailers sold.

ATC Trailers were 19% of our total trailers sold — a 6% increase from 2023. They accounted for 100% of our fiber splicing trailers sold, 72% of our office and command trailers sold, 47% of our stage trailers sold, and 8% of cargo trailers sold.

Sure-Trac trailers made up 18% of our total trailers sold, 100% of our dump trailers sold, 91% of our utility trailers sold, and 90% of equipment trailers sold.

Cross Trailers accounted for 11% of our total trailers sold — up 1% from 2023. They were 32% of our car haulers sold and 21% of our cargo trailers sold.

Stealth Trailers totaled 5% of our trailers sold in 2024, while Xtreme Custom Trailers rounded out the top 6 at 3% of our trailers sold.

We look forward to continuing to carry and sell trailers from these great manufacturers in 2025. Additionally, we recently took on Haul About as another cargo trailer and custom trailer manufacturer, so we’ll see if they can crack our top manufacturers in the coming year.
